After living here a full year, we finally took Bridger backpacking. He rode in his carrier on my front, while I carried a backpack on back. Tom carried everything else...what a useful guy! Our friends Chris and Ryan accompanied us on the adventure. Bridger absolutely loved being outside in the limitless space. He trotted (okay, teetered) all over the campsite and woods proudly. He was really into helping with every part of the trip (check out the videos) Bacchus played in the creek and Tom and I made dinner, cleaned up, and settled down next to a beautiful fire for some wine and s'mores. It could not have been a more perfect night. Bridger retired to the tent at about 9:30 and we didn't hear a peep from him afterwards. He woke up a little tired, but excited to see we were STILL outside. Thank goodness he is seemingly a good camper. In the morning we grabbed some breakfast in Nashville at the Hobnob and headed home for long afternoon naps (all of us). A fun afternoon of playing in the backyard, swinging, and walking all over the yard collecting sticks followed. A perfect couple of days with a fantastic kiddo.

Hi - I read your entry in the coffee can at the site at the end of the Tecumseh Trail - and then just happened on your blog while looking up images of the trail. My name's Daniel Brugioni, and I've done the full trail once and camped at that spot three times now. My wife and I went there this weekend (Nov. 6-8)...she loved it. Just thought that was neat running into your blog. Your son is really adorable, and it's so neat to start him backpacking so young.
